ROBERT J. KOZUKI
ROBERT J. KOZUKI Robert J. Kozuki passed away on November 4, 2014 at the Queens Medical Center. He had recently been diagnosed with leukemia and had also suffered from coronary artery disease. Bob was born in Hilo, Hawaii on June 16, 1932. He and his 2 brothers grew up in Keaukaha. Following graduation from Hilo High School in 1950, Bob attended Graceland College in Iowa from 1950 to 1952. After serving two years in the Army, Bob continued his education at Central Missouri University and earned a Bachelor's Degree. He then went on to the University of Missouri where he earned his Master's Degree. It was there that he met his future wife, Mazie, who was also a student at the University. They were married in 1958. Bob went back into the Army where he was commissioned as a Captain and spent the next twenty years as a mental health worker on various military installations. His final military assignment was at Madigan Army Hospital in Fort Lewis, Washington. After retiring from the Army as a Lt. Colonel, Bob worked at Western State Hospital as the Director of Social Services for nearly twenty years. In 2000, Bob and Mazie both retired and returned to Hawaii, where they bought a home in Kapolei. In 2008, they sold their home in Kapolei and moved into the Arcadia Retirement Residence. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Tokuichi and Fujie Mihara Kozuki and his older brother Edward Kozuki. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Mazie Kozuki and his brother, Eugene (Judy) Kozuki of Des Moines Iowa and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were held at the Arcadia Retirement Residence to celebrate Bob's life and Commital services were at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. No flowers. No monetary offering.
