PETER R. GILPIN December 22, 2014 Peter Riffle Gilpin, 81, died at his home in Honolulu. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he served in the Naval Reserve, and later earned a Master's degree at the University of Hawaii. A scholar, raconteur, and keen cultural commentator, he worked for many years in the islands as a photographer, both freelance and at the Bishop Museum. He is survived by his sister, Kate Gilpin, and many friends, colleagues, and Suttoneers, both here and overseas. A memorial will be held at Tantalus Lookout (View Point), Pu'u 'Ualaka'a State Park on Round Top Drive, on Sunday afternoon, January 18th, at 2 o'clock.
