Daniel "Danny" Omakanim, 79, of Waimea, Kauai, a retired heavy equipment mechanic for G&R Sugar Plantation and an\0x2008Army veteran, died in Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born in\0x2008Waimea. He is survived by wife Elaine, son Damien "Kaimana," daughter Lynn Mira, mother Dolores "Loling" and two grandchildren. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Feb. 7 at Waimea Sacred Hearts Catholic Church. Services: 11 a.m. Committal services: 2:30 p.m. at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.
