MARGARET-HELEN JONES WOOD
MARGARET-HELEN JONES WOOD Margaret-Helen Jones Wood was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1948, the eldest of seven children. Her parents were Augustus Angus Jones and the late Helen Rita (Bonia) Jones. She attended public schools in Boston and worked with her sister Helen and cousins Maureen and Karen as New England's first women in retail lumber sales at Line Lumber Co, the family owned business. She was also happily involved in several pageants, enjoyed the runway, as well as the theatre. She was an accomplished singer and artist. A one woman show of her art work was exhibited in Vallejo, California. She earned her B.A. in Education at Salem State University in Massachusetts , her B.S. in Cosmetology at Solano College in California, and her Masters of Education degree at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. At each school, she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Margaret-Helen taught in Massachusetts, California, and Hawaii in both public and private schools for 42 years creating art and drama curriculums for students from preschool through grade 12 to adult education. Her students won many awards in the visual arts. Along with her husband, actor, teacher and writer Lloyd J. Wood, she produced plays and musicals in Hawaii for 25 years. She enjoyed painting, cooking, crocheting, gardening, writing and reading. She adored her dogs, Brownie, Lucy and Desi. She is survived by her husband Lloyd J. Wood of Honolulu, father Augustus A. Jones of NH, sister Helen R. Potter of Massachusetts, sisters Nora C. Fortin, Janet M. Prior and brother Daniel M. Jones of NH, and brothers Michael J. and Edward J. Jones of California as well as several nieces and nephews in the United States and Australia. She was a totally happy woman who basked in the love of all who knew her. She celebrated each day with her beloved husband, Lloyd for 31 years. In lieu of funeral services, friends will gather to celebrate her fortunate life. Margaret passed away peacefully in her sleep, February 6, 2015, after a long illness.
