MARGARET ALICE GRIMES
MARGARET ALICE GRIMES October 16,1917 - March 21, 2015 Margaret Alice Grimes, 97, of Kailua, Hawaii, passed peacefully from our earthly bounds on March 21, 2015 in Kailua, Hawaii. Margaret will be missed by her daughter, Christine Bailie of Honolulu, son Jack Eric Grimes of Kailua, and her granddaughter, Kaitlin Bailie of Honolulu. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Grimes; her parents, and seven siblings. Margaret was born in Stockton, Illinois, the daughter of Claude and Martha Simmons. She received her education in Freeport, Illinois, graduating from Freeport High School in 1935. During World War II, Margaret was employed in the purchasing department of the Savanna Ordinance Depot, in Savanna, Illinois. She then moved to Chicago and was a secretary-correspondent for World Book Encyclopedia. In 1947, Margaret moved to southern California where she served as a secretary at North American Aviation. In 1950 she was wed to Jack E. Grimes and raised her family. She was an active member and past president of V.F.W. Auxiliary No. 3261 in Gardena, CA and a life member of Easter Star, Chapter 260 of Gardena, CA. After retirement the couple moved to Kailua. There they enjoyed meeting new friends and entertaining their family. Margaret requested no funeral services. Private scattering of ashes to be held.
