Blackie Akio Higashi, 89, of Honolulu, an Army veteran who served in World War II and a former owner of Hale Plumbing Ltd., died in Honolulu. He was born in Kaiaakea, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Gail T. Izumi; sons Warren, Gary, Rodney and Steven; daughters Gayle Ing and Ina Higashi-Izumi; brother Takeshi; sisters Harriet Ochi and Amy Matsuoka; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Private services.
