DR. REBECCA LEE PROCTOR, M.D.
$nameIn Memoriam: DR. REBECCA LEE PROCTOR, M.D. December 26, 1905 - April 10, 1985 "All Work is Honorable" Rebecca Lee was born in Kihei, Maui. Her parents immigrated to Hawaii in 1903, and her father worked in sugar cane and pineapple fields for 18 years. When her mother became ill, Rebecca went to live at the Susannah Wesley Home for Japanese and Korean Women and Children in Honolulu until 1928. Rebecca graduated from McKinley High School (1924), University of Hawaii (1928) and Yale University Medical School (1931). She practiced medicine in China and married Dr. Wallace Proctor, M.D. in Shanghai in 1940. They worked together for the US Army Air Corps during WWII. In 1957, Dr. Proctor gained her Masters in Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley. She was dearly loved by her family and friends, and was always proud of her roots. A memorial luncheon in her honor will be held on Monday, April 13, at the Hale Koa Hotel. "Mom, you were always there."
