BONNIE MARIE COCKETT January 29, 2015 Bonnie Marie Cockett, 68 years old, of Oakland, Nebraska, died peacefully at Methodist Hospital of Omaha. She was born and raised in Honolulu and attended Punahou School, Niu Valley Intermediate and Kalani High School, graduating in 1964. During her teenage years, she loved to ride horses. She was a barrel racer and for six years, with her father by her side, was a Pa'u Princess in both the Kamehameha Day and Aloha Week parades. Bonnie moved to Volcano on the Big Island where she ran Village General Store, formally Hongo Store. In 1979, Bonnie was diagnosed with Lupus. Moving back to Honolulu in 1981 she worked as a bank teller for Central Pacific Bank and First Hawaiian Bank. After retiring from the bank for health reasons, she moved to Nebraska in 2008 to live near her daughter. A true survivor of the disease, she overcame many obstacles and lived a full life. Bonnie is survived by her mother, Elizabeth E. Cockett; son, Michael Keoki Spain Jr.; daughter, Malia Pedro and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at the Oahu Cemetery on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10am. Flowers welcome.
