Herbert K. "Small Man" Kaaukai Sr., 94, of Pahoa, Hawaii, a retired county heavy equipment operator and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Kalapana, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Annie K., sons Herbert Jr. and Alton, daughter Darleen P. Sevao, sister Josephine and five grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Saturday at the Kaaukai residence, 15-2806 S. Hinalea St., Hawaiian Shores, Pahoa. Services: 10 a.m. Private scattering of ashes. Aloha or casual attire. Flowers welcome.
