Edwin William Marion McAvoy, also known as "Boots," "Mr. Boots" and "Avocado Man," 74, of Hilo, a retired U.S. Department of Agriculture agricultural inspector, a retired Navy chief petty officer and a Boeing employee, died in Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was born in California. He is survived by wife Patricia; sons Steven, Michael and Tanner; daughters Reno, Misty and Pepita; stepdaughter Dionne Lau; and six grandchildren. Private services.
