BEATRICE KIMIKO HIGA NISHIZAWA
BEATRICE KIMIKO HIGA NISHIZAWA Beatrice Kimiko Higa Nishizawa, age 94, long time resident of Kaneohe, passed away on April 12, 2015 at the home of her caregivers: daughter, Gwen and son-in-law, Clayton Fujie. Born on June 28, 1920 in Hakalau, Hawaii, she was a retired seamstress from the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base and a member of Yomitan Sonjinkai. She was preceded in death by her husband, Toshio, and son, Gary. Along with daughter, Gwen (Clayton) Fujie, she is survived by her sons, Miles (Harriet) and Guy (Michelle) Nishizawa, daughter, Geri (Jim) Baenen, sister, Joyce Uehara, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Beatrice was an avid reader and gardener and enjoyed Okinawan and Hawaiian music. She continued sewing well into her 90's. She was a great cook who hosted many gatherings. Devoted to her family, she also supported her late husband's 522 FAB and 442nd RCT Veterans activities. On May 7th at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, visitation will start at 5:00 pm followed by a celebration of life service at 6:00 pm.
