Lawrence Atai Makuakane, 84, of Wailuku, a retired Coast Guard boatswain mate, died in Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Kahului, Kona, Hawaii. He is survived by son Lawrence A., daughters Pooui Rano and Pakulani Fagaima, brother Jack, 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
