Byron Hanuala Ayala, 62, of Hilo, a carpenter and an Army veteran, died in Pohai Malama. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Donna E.; daughters Kathy Nacis and Hi'ilani and Kristal Ayala; son Kaimiloa "Makana"; sister Deneen Thompson; and four grandchildren. Visitation: 4 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Church, Hilo. Services and celebration of life: 5 p.m. Military honors to follow. Scattering of ashes at a later date. Casual attire.
