Haruo Maedo, 88, of Hilo, a retired University of Hawaii agriculture researcher's aide and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was born in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. He is survived by sister Toshiko Shiroma. Private services. No flowers or monetary offerings.
