78Michael Bernard Helppie, 37, of Koloa, Kauai, a waiter at Waiohai Honu Bar and Plantation Gardens Restaurant, will be remembered in services at a later date. He died in Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born in San Jose, Calif. He is survived by son Maverick, companion Kara Domingcil, parents Michael Helppie and Karen Reynolds, stepmother Mary, hanai parents Cynthia Ellis and Mel Domingcil, brother Ryan Malloy, sisters Sharlene Helppie and Jayme M. Crockett, and grandparents Bill and Sue Powell.
