JACK RICHARDSON
JACK RICHARDSON Passed away at home on June 10, 2015 in Kailua, HI. He was born April 8, 1942 in Portland, OR. As the owner of Kailua Texaco in the 70s and 80s, his business was a fixture and Jack a beloved and revered pillar of that community. He was twice Honorary Mayor of Kailua and the Chairman of the Kailua Fourth of July Parade for 18 years. However, beyond the Windward Side, Jack was committed and devoted to making Hawaii a better place for all. He served as State Democratic Party Chair from 1986-1992 and was a tireless volunteer, lending his time and expertise wherever and whenever he could make a valuable contribution to a good cause and helping others. He was a retired Department of Health Underground Storage Inspector, an Air Force veteran and a member of the Jaycees, Elks Club, Rotary Club and Kailua Chamber of Commerce. In his later years, Jack became an unwearying, resolute advocate on behalf of the crusade against Parkinson's Disease, even as he fought his own gallant, personal battle with the harshly debilitating ailment. Jack was humble but dedicated and passionate in whatever he pursued. There was no task beneath him, no challenge beyond his determination to meet it. A hui hou, Jack! He is survived by his wife, Kerry, son, Mark (Jodi), sister, Pat Foss, former wife, Jeanie Painter, granddaughters Hannah and Grace, and many nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life and scattering of ashes on Friday June 19th, 10:00 a.m. at the Honolulu Elks Lodge.
