KATHERINE PAIVA OPUNUI Katherine Paiva Opunui, born in Ahualoa, Hawaii, on February 15, 1929; died in Honokaa on June 9, 2015. She made her home in Kaneohe for over 50yrs. She retired from Liberty House after 38 yrs, and moved to Waikoloa in 2004. She is survived by daughters, Antoinette (Gouveia) Brucker and Leonora Lani Opunui; sisters Minnie Reis, Lorraine (John) Steinbacher; brother Albert (Vera) Paiva; Grandson James Brian Brucker; Great-grandson Simon Brucker; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside prayer service will be at Punchbowl, July 1st at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers or any renumeration, you may donate to any of the following: KARES (animal rescue), American Heart Association, American Lung Association or Hawaii Humane Society.
