Edward Joseph Smith, 91, of Hilo, a retired electrical engineer for Christie Electric and an Army veteran, died in Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in St. Louis. He is survived by son Roger, daughter Karen, brother Fred, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services to be held in California, and scattering of ashes to follow.
