JAMES FRANCIS COFFEY Of Honolulu, Hawaii was born on June 3, 1928 to John and Leticia Coffey in Williamsport Pennsylvania, one of seven children. He passed away on February 4, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Heeter, and two sisters, Shirley Springman and Jeannie Shafer and several nieces and nephews. James joined the army on June 26, 1946 as a private and received an honorable discharge on October 31, 1947. He then attended college and was awarded a BA in Finance from Franklin Marshall College in 1951. Following a brief career as a salesman, he enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 15, 1954 and subsequently was commissioned as 2nd LT on March 4, 1955. Jim attained the rank of Major on November 20, 1967. During his Air Force Career, he served as a navigator/bombardier in Labrador, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines earning a National Service Defense Medal, the Ninth Oak Leaf Cluster Air Medal and several commendations for his service to his country.. He resigned from active service on September 30, 1972. Following his military service, James moved to Honolulu and enjoyed his retirement. He participated in an investment group and loved the island culture. James is inurned The National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl in Honolulu, Hawaii and received a full military service.
