73John Keonaona Kaauwai, 81, of Anahola, Kauai, a retired supervisor for the state Department of Transportation Highways Division, died. He was born in Kapaa, Kauai. He is survived by wife Barbara; sons John and Duane; daughters Cheryl Wilson, Kathleen Ibaan, Gaylynn Go, Lehua Kaauwai-Krueger and Lisa Abell; brother William; sisters Henrietta Gonsalves, Annette Kaauwai and Linda Iwamoto; 23 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Aug. 1 at Kapaa First Hawaiian Church. Services: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the church cemetery.
