Gerundio Eublera "John" Madrid, 98, of Hilo, a retired bellman for the Sheraton Waikiki, a former bellman for the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and a former bell captain for the Alexander Young Hotel, died at home. He was born in Pangasinan, Philippines. He is survived by wife Carolina; sons George, Gary and Gilbert; daughters Carolina Griep and Cecilia Madrid; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo. Service: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery, Section K. Celebration-of-life potluck luncheon to follow at Kolekole Beach Park.
