JO-ANN P. BONAWITZ
JO-ANN P. BONAWITZ Jo-Ann P. Bonawitz, 83, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2015 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by nothing but love from her family. Jo-Ann lived in Kailua for 32 years, where she and her husband Joe Bonawitz Jr. raised their three children. Jo-Ann progressed in her career as a speech and language pathologist, working at a local hospital and for the California/Hawaii Elks Major Project, helping thousands of children to gain the power of speech. She was also very active in the Honolulu Assistance League, where she made life long friends and held numerous leadership positions. Upon retirement in 1991, Jo-Ann and Joe moved to Vancouver, WA to be closer to family and to travel. Jo-Ann will always be remembered as a strong, outspoken, and independent woman who was a wonderful role model to others. She lived her life to the fullest with an adventurous soul and a caring heart. She is survived by her husband Joe of 60 years, sister Yvonne, brother Allan, and children Kristin, Trey, and Dirk, four grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Jo-Ann was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Dealtry Priaulx and her sister Sheila. The family is planning a celebration of Jo-Ann's life in September 2015.
