Duane J. Lipps, 83, of Pahoa, Hawaii, a mechanic and a Coast Guard veteran, died in Hilo. He was born in Hart, Mich. He is survived by wife Charlene, sons Daniel J. and Dennis D., daughter Christy L. Ah Sing, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Friday at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Chapel.
