Howard Osamu Tanaka, 82, of Kailua, a Coast Guard veteran and retired Job Corps welding instructor, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Katherine "Kay," son Mark T., daughter Lynn H. Vasconcellos, brother James T., sister Midori Miyata and four grandchildren. Visitation: 5 p.m. Sept. 3 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services: 6 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
