ELLEN MURIEL JAMES HOAPILI TODD
ELLEN MURIEL JAMES HOAPILI TODD Ellen Muriel James Hoapili Todd entered eternal life on July 27, 2015 in La Mesa, CA. She was met by her husbands William Ulumaheihei Hoapili and Eugene V. Todd and her beloved sons William U. "Bill" and Robert J. "Bob" Hoapili. Her spirit is carried on by her two grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren. She left us on her own terms, in her own bed, with the smile that could light up any room. You don't live to be an active 98 year old without being a fighter and Ellen was one to the very end. She was born on Oahu and raised by her grandmother in Kaimuki, survived Pearl Harbor, and endured personal losses that would shatter most anyone. Her strength came from her devout Catholic faith, an infectious optimism, the ability to win over your heart and her enjoyment of all kinds of foods, especially poi. She excelled in business long before the "women's movement" as the manager of Meridian East and in sales at Liberty House. She treasured, preserved and protected the family's history to inspire our future generations. Hawaiian in spirit, she could speak, translate and loved singing Hawaiian songs and never turned down a chance to perform a hula. Interment will be held Saturday, August 29 at 9am at Hawaiian Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please conduct a random act of kindness or donate to a cause of your choice, in her honor. Or just stop by, say hi and sing her a song.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
