KATHARINE ELIZABETH CLIFFORD
KATHARINE ELIZABETH CLIFFORD Kathy Clifford, 72, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2015 at St. Francis Hospice. She was born in Honolulu on March 6, 1943. Kathy grew up in Nu'uanu with her parents Fridolf and Jenny Kling and her brother Tom. She married Michael Clifford on June 30, 1966 and had two children Diana & Pamela. Kathy graduated from Punahou in 1961 and went on to pursue a degree in accounting at Northwestern, which she completed at San Jose University. She was one of the original IBM programers at Bank of Hawaii, and after raising her two daughters she returned to help Mike develop and run Hawaiian Housewares. Kathy had an active lifestyle, enjoying paddle tennis, canoe paddling, and skiing. She completed the Molokai Channel, winning the masters division for Outrigger Canoe Club two times. She loved playing cards and tackling challenging puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. She and Mike loved to travel. They travelled around the world experiencing different cultures along with creating wonderful friendships. She focused on the experiences that life could bring and truly lived life to its fullest! She was a generous, kind, and thoughtful woman who had the pleasure of having many wonderful friends. Kathy is survived by her best friend and husband Michael Clifford, her daughters and their families, Diana & Kevin Allen (grandchildren Kaitlin and Robert) and Pamela Jenkins (grandchildren Patrick and Lani) and her brother Thomas Kling and sister Pio Humphreys. Kathy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12th at Thurston Chapel at Punahou, with services at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's name may be made to St. Francis Hospice or The American Cancer Society.
