VIOLET KAZUKO PADILLA Violet Kazuko Padilla died peacefully at home in Thousand Oaks, California on August 5, 2015 in the care of her husband and loving family. Violet was born in Wahiawa, Hawaii on February 12, 1935, the youngest of 8 children. Her parents, Shizuichi and Haruyo Daigo Hiratani, had emigrated from Hiroshima, Japan. Violet attended Leilehua High School, University of Hawaii, and Cal State Fullerton. She was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and a talented seamstress. Violet and Xavier raised three daughters in Whittier, California. Throughout her life she enjoyed sports (tennis, 5K & 10K races, including 3 Bay to Breakers) and travelling (to visit family, explore, and enjoy good food). After she received a BA from CSU Fullerton she worked on the B-2 Project during her 13 years at Northrop. Her special joy was being "Mum" to grandchildren Cory, Alex, and Lana. Violet is survived by her husband Xavier J. Padilla, Sandy and Ed Smith, Lisa Padilla and Greg Hise, Linda and Shaun McCray; and siblings Moriyoshi Hiratani and Ann Goya. Family members will commemorate her life with a private ceremony.
