Gale Smith Nakano
GALE SMITH NAKANO Age 63, of Honolulu passed away on August 24, 2015 at St. Francis Hospice in Nuuanu. She passed peacefully with the family around her. We all love her and will deeply miss her. She was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to Robert N. Smith and Shirley M. Switzer. They moved to Royal Oak, Michigan, and she graduated from Dondero High School, Class of 1970. She moved to Hawaii in the early seventies and never looked back. She became a true kamaaina "chop sticks, lau lau and spam musubi". She loved listing Hawaii as her home state. She traveled extensively between Hawaii and Michigan. She was the longtime Kauai sales rep for Alert Alarm and had many very good friends on the Garden Isle. She will always be remembered as the haole lady with the Japanese last name. She loved sports, especially high school football. She will forever be a St. Louis High School football supporter. Family was everything to her, mom, grandma, wife, aunty, she was a lot of things to a lot of people. She is survived by husband Roger; sons Nicolas and Todd; daughter Kaitlin; grandson Noah; brother Gary Smith and sister Joyce Griffin. Visitation 4:30 pm on 19 Sept at Calvary By The Sea Chapel, service at 5:30 pm. Very casual attire. No flowers. Bring photos.
