LESLIE “LES” WALKER STEWART, JR.LESLIE LES WALKER STEWART, JR. Leslie "Les" Walker Stewart, Jr., 70, beloved husband, loving father and "Papa", passed away peacefully in Wahiawa on August 18, 2015. He was born in Honolulu on September 14, 1944. Les retired after 47 years of service as Chief of the Casualty & Mortuary Affairs, Department of the Army. He was a specialist in search, recovery and identification of war veterans who died in service of their country during World War II, Korea, Grenada and Vietnam, and was instrumental in their repatriation and return to their families. Les also retired as Command Sergeant Major, US Army Reserves, 29th Brigade. He was a true patriot who served with dedication, compassion and respect. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Haroldine "Dee" Stewart; daughters, Celeste (Ryan) Pagan, Carice (Bronson) Carrizosa; hanai daughter, Deidreana Maluyo-Gilman; hanai son, Daniel Gilman; stepsons, Derwin, Dustin and Dwight Gilman; stepdaughter, Darnell Maluyo; sister, Annette Gaylord; 18 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren; faithful & loyal companion, Koa. Celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Oahu Cemetery Chapel. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. Service 11:00 a.m.-12 noon. Committal service with full military honors to follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl at 2pm. Aloha attire, no flowers.
