MINORU ISOBE MINORU ISOBE, 97, of Honolulu, retired sugarcane agronomist, died in Honolulu on August 17, 2015. Born on October 1, 1917 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, raised in Kukuiuila, Kauai, one of seven children. Agronomy Dept Head of the Hawaiian Sugar Planters' Assn and an international consultant. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Esther H.; daughters Amy (Tom) Yamashita, Ellyn (Blake) Nuibe, Ina Isobe (Paul Nishimoto); grandchildren Andrew Nuibe (Jeralyn Irei), Michael Fujioka, Kelly Nuibe, Annie Yamashita. Predeceased by daughter Lisa. Memorial service Saturday, September 19: Visitation 10:00 a.m., Service 11:00 a.m. at Waiokeola Congregational Church. Aloha attire.
