Albert “Al” Shigemi Izuka
ALBERT AL SHIGEMI IZUKA Age 72, of Honolulu passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Aloha Nursing & Rehab Center in Kaneohe. He was born on November 12, 1942 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He served in the U.S. Army and upon discharge worked in the upholstery trade. He was the owner/operator of long-time upholstery company, Paradise Upholstery in Kalihi. Al was a committed & talented craftsman, dedicated to his trade and clientele for many years. Al had a strong passion for working with wood and metals. As a hobby, he made miniature firearms and knives, as well as miniature koa furniture for dollhouses. He was a talented artisan and actively involved with the Miniature Arms Society. His works were featured in various publications and his workmanship recognized for its exceptional skill and precision. He was also a big fan of classic cars. Al was a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by sons, Kent & Myron; grand- children, Madisyn & Derrick; companion, Sybil Kuwahara; three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service at 6:00 pm. Casual/aloha attire.
