LT. COLONEL MINEO INUZUKA (RETIRED)
LT. COLONEL MINEO INUZUKA (RETIRED) Lt. Colonel Mineo Inuzuka (Retired), passed away Nov. 7, 2015, in Kailua, Hawaii. He was born in Portland, Oregon on April 21, 1925 to Takashi and Tomi Inuzuka. He was drafted from a Japanese American internment camp. He was a member of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and one of the most decorated Korean War Veterans and a Vietnam veteran. He received many decorations, service medals and badges including the Distinguished Service Cross, Purple Heart and a battlefield commission. The 442nd Combat Team was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. He was inducted into the Gallery of Heroes at the Hawaii Army Museum and the Oregon Military Museum Hall of Valor. After he retired from the Army, he fulfilled his dream and sailed around the world solo on his sailboat, "Go for Broke." Preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ise Azumano, Kazuko Hustead, Grant Inuzuka and Yaeko Sano. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sachiko Inuzuka; daughters, Nora Inuzuka, Jae Lovejoy, Sandi Inuzuka (Peter Bliley); grandson, Morris Lovejoy, II; sister, Yoneko Hara, and many nieces and nephews.
