James E. McKellar
JAMES E. MCKELLAR August 13, 1940 - December 18, 2015 After 2 1/2 years of fighting CMML, Jim is at peace. He is survived by wife, Sherree, sons, Scott and Mark, his brothers, David and Jon, nieces Janet and April. He was born in Pasadena to Mary Alice and Edwin G. McKellar. He moved to Hawaii in the 2nd grade, graduated from Roosevelt High, and returned to Pasadena to attend college. He opened his first business, McKellar's Broasted Chicken in Kailua in the 60's, expanded to three stores, then became a real estate broker. He was vice president of Urner Realty, then associated with Locations. He met Sherree at St. John Lutheran Church and married her in 1979. In the 80's he went to work for Certified Management as a property manager. He facilitated an employee stock buyout with two partners, then become sole owner. He sold to Associa and retired after completing his five year contract with them. He enjoyed golf, talking story, trading stocks and fine red wine. The family will return some of his ashes to his beloved Kailua Beach in a private ceremony and some to "Grandpa's bridge" in Portland later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of Wounded Warriors, St. John Lutheran Church, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (13 Mamaroneck , White Plains, NY 10605) or City of Hope.
