FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

EMMIE HIRONAKA SHIGEZAWA
$nameEMMIE HIRONAKA SHIGEZAWA 93, of Honolulu, Personnel Administrator for Hawaii State Judiciary. Passed away on September 5, 2015 in Newport Beach, CA. For 28 years, she was Personnel Officer for the Department of Commercial Fisheries of the US Interior, Department of Fish and Wildlife. Then she held several similar positions for the Hawaii State Government in the Department of Social Services, and culminated her career as Personnel Administrator for the Hawaii State Judiciary. She was honored to be one of the few women of her era to attain director level positions in government. In her retirement, Emmie authored a local bestseller novel, Pake Patch, a historical fiction account of pre-war Hawaii. She also enjoyed painting and ceramics, and enthusiastically volunteering with McKinley High School alumni activities. Emmie is survived by her son, Gordon; daughter, Christine (Bill) McDaniel; and two grandchildren Kiyono and Jeffrey. Memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 27, 2016 at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary.
