LEIANA LONG WOODSIDE A Hawaiian Legacy Orpha Leianaikaroselaniomaui Long Woodside was born in Wailuku Maui in 1926 to Henry and Ida Long. She was married to childhood sweetheart Harry Holt and had 2 daughters Healani and Hokulani. Early in their marriage they moved to Oahu. Leiana supported her family during the day as a secretary and during the evenings she shared her love of hula as a dancer in Waikiki hotel shows. Later in life, she met and married David Woodside and they moved to his family home in Waimanalo. Together they have a daughter, Ulalia. Leiana retired after a long career as curator of Queen Emma Summer Palace in Nu'uanu, and she continued to influence Hawaiian youth as a resource kupuna at Kamakau School and Kamehameha Schools' programs. She is survived by daughters Hokulani Holt-Padilla, Ulalia Woodside, grandchildren Luukia Ruidas, Lono Padilla and Papaikaniau Kaianui, great granddaughter Kalanikauikeaokiekie Ruidas, sister Manu Brand, and brothers Alexander Long and Malulani Long. Funeral service Sat. March 5. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., Service at 11:00 a.m., reception to follow.
