Leila (Lee) Lowrey Power
LEILA (LEE) LOWREY POWER Leila (Lee) Lowrey Power, 75, born in Honolulu Hawaii, passed away in Austin, Texas on December 31, 2015. Lee attended Northwestern University, where she earned a BA in Biological Sciences before marrying John Dale Power Jr. and moving to live in Arkansas. After receiving a Master of Divinity degree from Austin Theological Seminary in 1981 and later a Masters of Theology from Texas Christian University in Austin, Texas, Lee became one of the early pioneers for women in the ministry. Lee's gracious, yet fiercely independent spirit touched many lives in the Presbyterian Churches in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma where she served as pastor. Wherever she lived, Hawaii always held a special place in Lee's heart. Lee is survived by a daughter, Julie Smith, two sons, Dwight and Mark Power, a sister, Jean Weigle, two brothers, Dwight and Russell Lowrey and six grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on March 19th at 4:45 pm at Oahu Cemetery. Aloha Attire.
