Venansio G. "Taka" Alphons, 72, of Kaneohe, a retired engineer technician for the city Department of Environmental Services, executive director of Micronesia Bound in Pohnpei and a math teacher for Xavier High School in Chuuk, Micronesia, died in Los Angeles. He was born in Kolonia, Pohnpei, Caroline Islands (now Micronesia). He is survived by wife Patricia Billington, daughters Memorina Barnes and Laura Rose Alphons, son Y-Sin-Son Charley and four grandchildren. Visitation: 11 a.m. March 12 at St. Ann's Church, Kaneohe.
