MARY LYNNE GODFREY 93, a long-time Honolulu resident, passed away on February 6, 2016 in Newport, Washington. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California at Los Angeles and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Following her arrival in the Islands in 1950, she worked as a federal civil service employee with NOAA, National Marine Fisheries Service, Honolulu Laboratory, until her retirement in 1985. She was an active member of St. Clement's Episcopal Church and the Caledonian Society. She was a joyful Scottish country dancer and loved languages, the written word, travel, and her dogs. In 2012, she relocated to Washington State to be closer to her children. She was predeceased by her son, David J. Godfrey, Jr. and her sister, Sarah Jane Hastings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbee E. and Robert J. LeClair of Newport, Washington, and her nephew, Scott A. Hastings of San Rafael, California. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held March 16, 2016, 11:30 a.m. at St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 1515 Wilder Ave., Honolulu, (808) 955-7745. Casual and aloha attire. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hawaiian Humane Society.
