MICHAEL BURNETT
$nameMICHAEL BURNETT Michael Burnett, a pioneer of HIV/AIDS services in Hawaii, died February 26 in Honolulu. Born in Dalhart, Texas on 12/23/45, Burnett moved to Honolulu in the early 1980's and became active with the AIDS Community Care Team. He founded Gregory House Programs, Hawaii's HIV/AIDS housing agency, in 1988 and served as its first director. Burnett was instrumental in securing federal housing and services funds for PWAs in Hawaii. Retired in 2001, he remained active on nonprofit boards and considered himself blessed to have called Hawaii 'home.'
