PEARL MAILE LUNING COLEMANPEARL MAILE LUNING COLEMAN PEARL MAILE LUNING COLEMAN, ("Tutu Nui") 87, passed away quietly in her sleep at her home in Kailua on March 2, 2016. Pearl was born in Honolulu on March 22, 1928. She was a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa. Pearl was a Pa`u rider, surfer, avid reader and an accomplished hula dancer, ukulele and piano player. During her college years, she worked as a flight attendant for Hawaiian Airlines. After college she married her friend and sweetheart, William Edward Coleman. Together they raised 5 children. For many years, Pearl was a self-employed vital statistic researcher. Upon retirement, she took up babysitting for most of her mo`opuna. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother and Tutu and has touched many lives with her love of life, sharp wit and gracious spirit. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William Edward Coleman, Sr., sons; William E., Jr. (Trisha), Paul H. (Dianne), Michael A. (Kaleo), and daughters; Marylee Kaala Coleman, Manu Kaiama (Dexter), 16 Grand- children and 12 great-grand- children. Services: April 2 at St. Anthony's Church of Padua, beginning at 9:00 a.m., mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Private scattering of ashes. Celebration of Life to follow at Ko`olau Ballrooms at Noon.
