Oliver "Makaio" Kawaiaea, 88, of Wailuku, a retired state employee at Maui Correctional Center and an Army Air Force veteran, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Angeline K.L.; son Michael F.; daughters Michele H. Rapoza and Stacey N. Kawaiaea; hanai son Erwin M. "Bolly" Helekahi; hanai daughter Glenna Ann "Tweetie" Lind; brothers Johnny, Daniel and Milton; sister Minuet Ratledge; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 p.m. March 31 at Ballard Family Mortuary-Kahului. Services: 7 p.m. Additional visitation: 8 a.m. April 1 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Waihee.
