MINEKO SHIROMA
$nameMINEKO SHIROMA Mineko Shiroma, 98, of St. Anne, IL. passed away Sunday (Feb.7, 2016) at Presence Heritage Village in Kankakee, IL. She was born on Feb. 27, 1917, in Paia, Maui, the daughter of Ushi and Kama Inafuku. Mineko married Yetsuichi Shiroma on Aug. 25, 1935, in Waipahu, HI. Yetsuichi preceded her in death on April 11, 1978. Mineko was the owner and operator of a boarding house for students at the University of Hawaii while working as a waitress. She was a devout Christian and loving mother. Surviving her are: daughter and son-in-law June and Patrick Burns of St Anne, IL.; three sisters Gertrude Yogi, Evelyn Perry and Sumiko Inafuku all of Oahu; two grandsons, James and Daniel Burns; two great granddaughters, Kelly and Katey Burns of Kankakee, IL.; and many nieces and nephews throughout the islands. Cremation rites were accorded in Kankakee, IL. Burial will be at the Hawaiian Memorial Park in Kaneohe at 10:00 a.m. on April 23, 2016. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
