Joseph Atherton Gilman III, 84, of Kailua, a retired Hawaiian Telephone Co. construction supervisor and a Marine Corps veteran, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Shellene Heen, daughter Sarah Ann Gilman Sur, sister Patricia Greenwell and a grandchild. Scattering of ashes: 9 a.m. April 16 at the family residence. Aloha attire. No flowers. Donations suggested to Hospice Hawai'i.
