FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Loraine William (Larry) Fransham
LORAINE WILLIAM ("LARRY") FRANSHAM Larry Fransham, a longtime resident of Aiea passed away November 3, 2015, in Webster, Texas, at the age of 89. Larry was born May 9, 1926, in Fairbank, Iowa, to Charles F. Fransham and Pearl Bell Erpelding. He was the youngest of seven children, three boys and four girls, all of whom are now deceased. In 1944, Larry enlisted in the Navy and served in California, Maryland, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, and Italy. It was during one of the Hawaii tours that he met his wife of 54 years, Violet Foo Lin Ho, who was working for the Navy in Pearl Harbor as a clerk. They married on December 7, 1952, hoping that the U.S. would designate the date as a national holiday and would give them a long weekend every anniversary. They built a house in Aiea, which they rented whenever the family shipped out. Larry served a total of 22 years in uniform, mostly in communications, retiring in 1967 at the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and the family moved back into their Aiea home. Larry started a second career with the Navy as a civilian, continuing with his communications specialty which he pursued until his second retirement. Larry and Vi enjoyed travelling, which included long trips to China, Scandinavia, Great Britain, Alaska and of course, Las Vegas. Larry and Vi were 40+ year members of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Aiea, which he continued after Vi's death in 2006. Larry also served on the Board of the Aiea Family Center, and was a member of Scottish Rite in Honolulu. In 2011, Larry moved to Texas to be close to his granddaughters. A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy's, 98-939 Moanalua Road, on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10 AM. Aloha attire. His ashes will be scattered off Pokai Bay. Larry was preceded in death by wife Violet, and son Richard. He is survived by son Roy, son and daughter-in-law Robert and Vicky, and granddaughters Amanda and Kimberly.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
