CHARLES ROGER JONES
$nameCHARLES ROGER JONES CHARLES ROGER JONES, AGE 89 OF KAILUA passed away in a Kailua care home on March 15, 2016. He was born in Oakland, California on February 22, 1927 to James and Myrtle Jones. His wife, Sachie, passed away 2 years ago. Charlie passed away after having been disabled by a stroke just after Sachie passed. Charles was a graduate of Castlemont High School, Class of 1945. He was President of his graduating class and made all city in baseball. After service in the Pacific with the Marine Corps he attended Occidental College in the Oakland Bay Area and received a Bachelor Degree in Business. He also played semi professional baseball in the Bay Area. Not long after that he was employed by State Farm Insurance where he started as a claims adjuster, then salesman and finally General Manager of State Farm Hawaii. He and his team built State Farm to become a major insurance company in Hawaii and a leader in the national organization. He was one of the most educated insurance leaders in Hawaii, having achieved certificates in almost all categories, and a law degree. He was well known at the State Capital where he and other colleagues represented the interests of the public and insurance industry. Charles and Sachie raised 2 sons, Dr. Lloyd and Janet Jones, and State Rep. Hal Jones and Lana. They lovingly oversaw 8 grandchildren and 20 great grand children. Charlie also helped give leadership to the Executive Ministries of Campus Crusade for Christ in Hawaii, hosting many dinners. He was active in the Annual Governor-Mayor's Prayer Breakfast. He spent most of his last years with Sachie in the Hawaii Kai Senior Living Community and helped in chapel programs and bible studies. A memorial service will be held for Charles on Sunday April 24 at 5pm at Kaimuki Christian Church at 1117 Kokohead Avenue. Refreshments will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Aloha attire.
