Kaneko “Kay” Kubota
$nameKANEKO KAY KUBOTA Kaneko "Kay" Kubota of Honolulu passed away on March 26th, 2016 from complications of pneumonia at Kuakini Medical Center. She was 91 years old. Kaneko was born on April 5th, 1924 in Wailua Homestead, Kauai to Yeigiu and Kamesa Miyashiro. She was the youngest of four children. Late in 1942 she moved to Oahu to attend school. She met her late husband Charlie in 1952 while working at Kukui Fountain. They married on March 12, 1955. Kay was an excellent cook; we all loved her andagi and fried tofu. She crocheted gorgeous doilies and has sewn many beautiful quilts over the years. Once a member of the Cactus and Succulent Society of Hawaii, she also enjoyed and grew many lovely plants. One of her favorite places to travel to was Las Vegas, where she once won $1,200 on a royal flush. Kaneko is survived by her children Eric, Ann Kubota, Mark (Kellee) and Val; daughter-in-law Nad; grandchildren Amber, Kristen, Brayden and Rylie; great-grandson Azien and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Charlie and her son Jon. Visitation will be held at 10 am on Sunday, May 1st, 2016 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service to follow at 11 am. Casual attire.
