74Ruby Reiko Maekawa, 74, of Hilo, a retired Hilo High School Career Pathways teacher, died in Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. She was born in Hilo. She is survived by son Kyle Nakayama; daughter Karla Perry; stepson Schoen; stepdaughters Colleen Masukawa, Dawn Sumida, Treva Knowles and Tori Samiere; brothers George and Howard Yoshida; sister Judith Tamanaha; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation: 3 p.m. April 29 at Honpa Hongwangji Hilo Betsuin Buddhist Temple, 398 Kilauea Ave. Services: 4 p.m. Casual attire.
