81Joseph Kaua, 71, of Hilo, a retired heavy equipment operator and pastor for the Pillar of the Church of the Living God, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Mabel "Ilima"; sons Joey, Joray, Shane and John; daughters Elizabeth Ann Kaua-Sakamoto, Merle Liborio and Tammy Kaua-Toguchi; stepsons Guy and Delbert Ching Jr.; stepdaughter Cheryl Ann Ching; brother Arthur; sister Patricia Makekau; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8:30 a.m. May 5 at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.
