DAVID LEONG YOUNG
DAVID LEONG YOUNG David Young, an entrepreneur from a young age and a devoted family man, died on April 14 at home, surrounded by loved ones. He was 85. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, David graduated from Farrington High School and grew up helping his parents sell fish at the Oahu Market. David went into the Merchant Marines, served in the Korean war, and worked for and retired from NCR Corporation. On May 18, 1957, David married Amy Imano from Lahaina, Maui. In the early 70's David started a family business, Amy's Shell Shop, where the family would gather puka shells from Maile Beach and make them into necklaces. Eventually the weekend sale events turned into a successful small business that offered Hawaiian gift items in Waikiki. In addition to being a versatile handyman and hard worker, David and his wife were also world travelers. Yet his favorite place of all was Las Vegas for its food and "hot" craps table. He is survived by wife, Amy Imano Young; son, Randall (Angie) Young; daughters, Patricia (Wilfred) Young-Sasaki, Linda (Robert Lau) Young, Debra (Kent) Otsu, Shari (Sean) Simmons; 8 grandchildren. Visitation 4:00 p.m. Sunday (May 15) at Borthwick Mortuary Mauka Chapel; Service 5:00 p.m. Casual attire.
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
