Samuel Yong Jr.
April 25, 2016 Samuel Yong Jr., also known as "Sonny" and "Lucky," 77, of Waimanalo, a retired state Department of Transportation bridge design draftsman, a retired Marine Corps Reserve gunnery sergeant and a retired Royal Hawaiian Hotel bartender, died in the Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Honokahau, Maui. He is survived by wife Ruth; sons James "Kimo" Wright-Yong and Kamuela "Wela" Yong; daughter Puanani "Nani" Carroll; brother John; sisters June Kaaihue, Mattie Kaeo and Clara K. Martinez; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5:15 p.m. May 16 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Services: 6 p.m. Committal services and burial: 11 a.m. May 17 at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Aloha attire.
